Modak recipe - मोदक - by AroundTheKitchen



                                      



                                       INGREDIENTS:

FOR STUFFING :

  1. COCONUT - 2 CUPS
  2. JAGGERY - 1 CUP
  3. CARDAMON POWDER - 1 TBSP
  4. POPPY SEEDS - 2 TBSP

TO PREPARE STUFFING:
  1. heat a pan, add 2 cups of freshly grated coconut
  2. dry roast coconut for a min on medium flame,
  3. add 1 cup of JAGGERY
  4. keep stirring till the jaggery melts,
  5. once the jaggery is all melted and combined with the coconut add 1 tbsp of cardamon powder and 2 tbsp of POPPY SEEDS,
  6. mix everything well together and turn of the flame and keep it aside


FINAL STEP:
  1. heat a pan and add 1 cup of water, 4 tbsp of milk, 1/4th tsp of salt 
  2. let it come to a boil and add 1 cup of rice flour
  3. mix until it forms crumbly in texture
  4. switch off the flame and cover it with a lid for 10 mins and keep it aside,
  5. after 10 mins transfer the mixture on to a plate
  6. start kneading into a dough with some oil/ghee
  7. once the dough is ready start making modak
